From Business to Business School
The Economic and Social Science Research Council has joined forces with the Foundation for Management Education to launch a new joint Fellowship Scheme, aimed at attracting and assisting mid-career business practitioners into a second career as Business school academics.
The Scheme, an extension of the one successfully being run by the Foundation, will provide for 10 new Fellowships to be awarded each year for the next three years and will appeal to the practitioner, ideally already academically qualified to a post graduate level who is interested in moving into the academic world. The Fellowships located within a host leading UK Business school will provide the necessary training and development in research and teaching leading to a permanent post on successful completion of the two/three year period.
Details of the scheme can be found on the FME website at www.management-education.org.uk or by email to fme@lineone.net

Eligbility - candidates
A candidate for an ESRC/FME Fellowship would be exptected to have demonstrated to the Host School a durable interest in switching from a business career into Business School academia and have a strong sense of the contribution they can make to Management and Business research in the remainder of their career.
Candidates being nominated for a Fellowship shold be of an academic standard appropriate to that School and its parent university. They shoud also have sound and relevant business experience that will be an asset to their school and be of an age whereby at least a ten-year post fellowship career expectancy in Business School academe might be expected.
The candidate would also be expected to have satisfied the Host Business School that during the course of their business career they have demonstrable experience of using, if not producing, research in a business environment.
